I bought this particular night cream a couple of months back, just because I thought of using a cream specifically made for the purpose of 'night work', rather than using the plain normal face cream while going to sleep. I actually gifted Bio Maxim Oriflame night cream to my mom, and she really liked it a lot. Hence, I thought of giving this product a try for my night purpose.

What does Oriflame say about this product?
Rich night cream with Vitamin E and sea buckthorn oil. Apply every night on cleansed face. Contains retinol.

Some insight to Vitamine E, Seabuckthorn oil and Retinol that I got after searching online about these:
1) Vitamin E: Vitamin e added to lotions, creams, and other skin care products, as well as taken orally, plays a role in the anti-aging of skin. It helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Also, free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity is quite valuable for this skin problem. Source
2) Sea buckthorn oil: Sea Buckthorn oil has multiple benefits in the area of restorative and anti-aging skin care. Natural antioxidants and essential fatty acids help reverse damaging effects of sun radiation and minimize long term effects of sun exposure, like wrinkles, dryness, dark spots, reduce skin inflammation, promote natural skin restorative processes .
The oil is well tolerated by any type of skin and provide long term anti-inflammatory, restorative and revitalizing action. Source
3) Retinol has been proven one of the few effective ways to reduce signs of aging. Before buying, you should know about its benefits and uses. Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is a naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamin found in animal products such as fish oils and liver. It is also manufactured in the form of retinoids, tritonin, and retinyl palimitate.
Retinol is an anti-oxidant that has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer by neutralizing free radicals. Basically, it stimulates cell growth and reproduction, which is beneficial in many ways, particularly for skin cells. The most effective way to improve the appearance of skin using retinol is to apply it directly in the form of a cream or lotion. My take on the product:
Pros:
1) Like most of the Oriflame cream products, this cream also smells heavenly. I really like the mild fragrance the cream provides, which helps a lot in soothing and calming your senses after having a long tiring day. I feel it even helps a lot in giving a peaceful night sleep, because you feel so relaxed after applying it.
2) The cream is apt for all skin types. I have oily/combination skin and I use almost pea sized product on my face and the cream spreads properly over my face. The consistency is perfect; however it feels a bit oily and greasy on my skin. I massage my skin for almost 2 minutes in circular motion after which the cream gets absorbed in.
Cons:
1) It comes in a jar, and so a bit unhygienic to use as you have to dip fingers in it to take the product out. I absolutely hate if cream goes inside my nails so I usually use a small spatula to take the product out.
2) I don't know how effective the cream is. However, my skin has always remained good, so I might not be the correct person to comment on its effectiveness on overnight results.
3) You can avail the product through an Oriflame agent only.

Overall verdict: I have not discovered any noticeable difference in my skin using this product, so I seriously can not claim how much effective it is!! As a matter of fact I felt that it broke my skin in the initial two weeks of its usage, but that might be my illusion. I stopped using any cream over my face for a week, giving my skin some time to heal. After that I began using this cream again, and so far nothing has happened to my face. So, I can not say that this cream broke me out or not.

Will I buy it again? -No, I don't think so. Its a nice cream overall, but since it didn't do any wonders for me, I think I'll give it a pass.

m not sure yet how different night creams work..like i knw d different names as hand cream,foot cream,night cream r for marketing..bt we still feel like tryin dem always ..no ?

ReplyDeleteha ha..same here bhumika..I seriously wonder what exactly differs them. I mean if instead of using my regular hand cream, I use this on my hands - it works the same..so really I feel that there might be very little difference in the consistency and quantity of ingredients amongst all these!! :D
