Hi friends,
As I gave you a preview of Jean Claude Biguine Salon (JCB Salon), Bangalore here in my previous post, today I am going to give a detailed review of the salon and my experience there. I got a chance to check out Jean Claude Biguine salon last weekend. JCB Salon, Bangalore is located at Vitthal Mallaya road and they have another 5 branches currently operating in Mumbai.
Below are some pics:
I liked the overall management of the salon, and how everyone of the staff members were so professional and dedicated towards what they were doing. The services really adhered to what they promise - High quality at affordable prices. Everything right from attending the clients to taking care of their needs, flawless salon service, thorough cleanliness and ever smiling and friendly attitude of the staff really made me feel quite welcome and comfortable at the salon.
Despite having a problematic day, none of them lost their patience and kept on working tirelessly. At a point of time, even I asked Chong (who did my pedicure) to get some coffee or tea for herself, as I didn't see her sit in relief or take a 2 minute rest even once all along in 2 hours, in between the times she was attending the clients, and she might be busy like that since morning.
1) As far as I know OPI manicure and pedicure are available only at this salon. If you know any other place in India where we can get OPI nail lacquers and other products, please let me know that. Also, I came across this interesting information about OPI's version of nail lacquers especially for India, with typical Indian names. Check them out below:
2) They use micro camera to examine your scalp and hair texture before deciding on the color and hair treatment, which I find quite unique and different about the salon. Below are some pics of their micro-camera set:
3) They provide organic facial treatments and you can decide whether you want 100% organic treatment or 95%. I like the fact that they give complimentary skin examination by a certified consultant, depending on which you can choose the kind of facial that would suit you the best.
4) The range of products used by the salon come from different brands and they use the best of all. For example Ammonia free colors from L'oreal, Kerastase for hair products and OPI for manicure and pedicure. JCB also produces many beauty and cosmetic products which are readily used in their salons.
3) Since the area was quite compact and it was a weekend, there were lots of people waiting for their turn. I couldn't find enough chairs or space for people to sit and wait. I feel they could have some chairs kept outside the salon for people to sit comfortably and wait.

My experience at Jean Claude Biguine Salon
I got an appointment booked for 4 pm Saturday a day before. I started from home at around 3:30 and was greeted with huge traffic all the way. Seriously going out in Bangalore on a weekend is a nightmare. Anyway, I reached there by around 4:15 and I was greeted warmly by the staff there. They were very polite and answered my queries really well. The salon is located on the first floor of "The collective" showroom. I liked the friendly attitude of the staff there and the way things have been organized in a compact area. I took various photographs and inquired a lot about the products and technologies they use, and they were more than happy to answer me and even showed me the equipments.
When my pedicure started, I was amazed to see the OPI products there. As far as I know, I've never seen OPI products and nail lacquers anywhere in India. The JCB attendent Chong did OPI pedicure for me which was really great and nice experience for me.I found her quite friendly and ever smiling all the time she did the pedicure for me. She started by washing my feet with hot water, followed by cutting and trimming my nails, polishing, cuticle removal and application of various nail oils.
She also used OPI foot scrub, foot mask and Cappuccino cream on my feet, and gave me a good massage which was extremely relaxing. When it came to deciding on the nail lacquer shade, she suggested me to go for OPI Nail lacquer - 20 candles on my cake. I loved the names of the shades, which were quite intriguing. She also offered me to apply the same nail lacquer on the nails of my hands, which I welcomed whole-heartedly!

Some problems and suggestions:
I feel that any company, no matter what trade they are dealing with, must have a proper strategy for their crisis management. I've already experienced crisis mishandling of British Airways earlier, despite it being a top class airline in the world. And, same thing I had to experience on my visit to JCB salon too.
It was a weekend and hence there were lots of appointments for the salon to handle.Unfortunately, they faced a major power failure early morning the same day I had to go for the pedicure. Because of this power failure everything got delayed and despite reaching the salon at 4:15 PM, I had to wait for another 2 hours to get my turn. Although the generator was working fine for salon services, the AC wasn't working and it made sitting and waiting a bit tedious for me.
However, the salon staff members were really considerate about the whole problem, and kept on asking me if I needed anything, despite their busy schedule. They apologized numerous times about the problem and the delay, and even offered me to have some tea and snacks at the "Herb & Spice" cafeteria located on the third floor of "The Collective". Despite the delay, the staff members kept their cool and kept on attending every client with same dedication and efforts.

Some suggestions:
1) I feel it should be the responsibility of salon management team to at least keep a buffer of 1 hour and see if they could attend a particular appointment or not. In case they feel they'd not be able to do that, they should let the client know beforehand about the problem, so that she/he can plan better.
2) The chair used for pedicure was nice, but I feel it should have a head-rest at least. Usually when a person gets his legs massaged or pedicured, she/he has the tendency to lean backward and a chair with good head rest would definitely make the experience more comfortable.

About Jean-Claude Biguine
Jean-Claude Biguine was born on January 28th 1954 in Flers dans l'Orne, France.
He became a hair styling apprentice at the age of 14. At the age of 18, he decided to move to Paris and perfect his craft and work with some of the leading hairstylists of the time. In 1982, JCB opened his first hair salon in Paris, located on rue des Sablons, in the 16th arrondissement.
Jean-Claude Biguine after opening his first salon at the age of 22 designed a functional salon and provided his client with the best services at very affordable prices. He quickly opened a second salon, a third one...and then ten. We know the rest of the story. The two passions of this 50 year old son of Brittany; hair styling and beauty became his livlihood. One could define his fashion taste as the trends of the city, easy-and-ready-to-wear genuine creations, hair styles for every day without stereotypes.
Brunettes, blondes or redheads, with long or short, smooth or straight hair are all to be found in his creations, which build on the best trends and ideas of the moment.
His philosophy
Jean-Claude Biguine's ambition is:
"To make the world of hair styling and beauty available to everyone, with out help!"
He wanted to transform the hair styling service into 'reflex consumption' and regular consumer behavior, by creating customer loyalty through lower prices, sumptuous hair salon environment and the guarantee of high quality services thanks to adequate and permanent training of all salon employees.
JCB considers that staff coordination is the most important aspect of hair salon management. Good coordination generates loyalty not only among the staff members but also customers.
Note: The services provided to me were offered by the salon for consideration. My opinion is 100% unbiased and completely based on my personal experience.
