Designers and Muses Come Together In Aid of Deserving Charities
Sahachari Foundation presented an exclusive preview of Design One 2012 – an exhibition promoting upcoming designers and women entrepreneurs. The preview was in celebration of the support that they have received for their various charitable endeavours, from the fashion fraternity and Delhi society.
Over Japanese high tea at Megu, The Leela Palace New Delhi, the preview provided a glamorous sneak peek of what can be expected at Design One. The designers each chose a muse each to showcase their creation. Atsu chose Pernia Qureshi, Neesha Singh was modeling a Nidhi Tholia design. Surily Goel flew in from Bombay and Lakshmi Nair graciously agreed to wear her favourite garment from Surily’s collection. Ammu Saidi adorned Bina Goenka’s stunning jewelry and Shivan-Narresh showcased the best in resortwear with help from Tanisha Mohan. Sangeeta Assomull looked stunning in a Cherie D creation. Last but not the least was Sunanda Tharoor in a gorgeous Sari by Abha Dalmia.
Seen at the event admiring the stunning garments and supporting the cause were Aishwarya Nair, Shalini Passi, Roshni Vadehra, Rimple Lohia, Tanya Ahuja, Namrata Bhartia, Aarti Sekhri and Minal Somani, Sweety Burman, Olga and Marro Maccohini
Design One is the brainchild of the ladies of Sahachari Foundation. The group of dynamic ladies consists of: Lakshmi Nair, Mala Goenka, Gauri Pohoomul, Sheela Bhogilal, Brinda Khatau, Pallavi Kanoria, Minakshi Bajaj, Madhu Ruia, Nilima Kilachand, Daksha Mehta and Parul Choksey. Smeeta Parekh contributes as Advisor; Bijal Meswani, Amrita Kilachand, Amruda Nair and Pooja Singhal as Associate members; Karuna Rajan and Shreyasi Goenka as Special Invitees. The motivational factors behind the initiative are to acknowledge the extraordinary talent that resides in creative designers, and to raise funds for deserving NGOs such as Victoria Memorial School for the Blind, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Apne Aap Women’s Collective – a shelter for children of sex workers in Mumbai, St. Jude India Childcare Centres and Muktangan.
The exhibition presents an opportunity for participants to connect with consumers in a burgeoning market and for shoppers to choose from a variety of exciting design options that fulfill the criteria of quality and exclusivity.

Design One will be held at the Grand Ballroom, Leela Palace Kempinski, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 13th March from 1.00 PM to 7.00 PM & 14th March from 10.00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Entry is free.
