How to Get the Jerseylicious ‘Smokey Eye’

Jerseylicious ‘Smokey Eye’

Jerseylicious has given us a few different styles over the years, with the team from the Gatsby Salon emphasizing big hair and big makeup. The ‘smokey eye’ has been one of the more popular looks to come out of the show, and is all about personality and plenty of volume. Smokey eyes can be created using a combination of mascara, eyeliner, and generous amounts of eyeshadow. If you want to create the look for yourself, what are some of the best ways in which you can go about it?

First Steps

Priming your eyes

You should try to start with your eye makeup first, as this will prevent any problems developing with your foundation. A good, clear base and primer is important if you want to make it easier to apply eyeshadow without causing a lot of smudging, at least at first. You can then apply eyeshadow to your lid, making sure that you don’t go too far past the crease. For the wing effect used in the smokey eye on Jerseylicious, be prepared for a bit of practice to get it right.

Blending

One of the key parts of the smokey eye look involves blending together darker and lighter colours; you can also experiment with metallic colours. A small amount of tape is useful here if you want to create an even blend around your eye, and is especially important if you’re combining light and dark colours. Again, concealer can be used to fix any problems later on. Dark eyeliner can be used with plenty of mascara to create a curled effect.

A good coal liner and pencil is important to have if you’re going to create a straight line; you can also go right around the waterline, or the bottom of your eye, to really make the look work. Some good contrasts can also be created by blending blues and green, which can work with the whites of your eyes. Depending on the colour of your eyes, you can experiment here with different colours. With smokey eyes, you don’t really want sharp lines, but should still have some edges.

If you find that your eyes are looking too dark, you can make things more blended by cleaning up around your eye with some concealer. You can also speed things up by curling with your mascara at the same time as applying it. Again, good combinations of colour that use silvers and brighter colours can help you to blend out the different parts of your eyeshadow and liner without going overboard.

Quality brushes can go a long way to making your smokey eyes stand out.

Crown brushes

You want a flat brush for thicker lines, as well as mid sized and pencil brushes, and some fluffier brushes; collections like Crown Brush are worth looking into if you want to experiment with a range of different brushes. In terms of setting off your smoke eye with the rest of your makeup, focus on neutral lip liner and some bronzer; this look should be all about your eyes.

Neutrogena Moistureshine Gloss - Review, Swatches

Neutrogena Moistureshine Gloss - Review I began to use Neutrogena brand long back, when I was in US. The first product I bought of this brand was a liquid foundation, which was my first foundation of all. And, as expected I chose the wrong shade and had to throw it away. The second thing I bought sometime back was this Neutrogena Moistureshine LipGloss , which apparently happens to be my first tinted lipgloss too, as before this I was used to only lipsticks or lip balms. It took me a while to get used to the concept of glosses. I bought the shade 04 Glimmer: Neutrogena Moistureshine Gloss Like usual glosses, it comes
