Top Tips To Keeping Your Hairstyle Fresh
When it comes to keeping your hairstyle fresh and exciting, things can be a little tricky. Just like anything else, your hair needs variety. It's important to experiment with different looks and styles - otherwise, how are you going to know which ones are right for you? We've all got individual faces and we all suit different types of hairstyle. It's time for you to find out where your strengths lie.
Clip on hair extensions can be a great way to experiment with styles that you might not be able to achieve naturally. Just because you've got a delicate pixie cut, doesn't mean that you can't mix it up every now and again with a long, luscious hair piece. There are a hundred and one ways that long haired girls can experiment with clip in extensions, too. It's all about unleashing your creative side, says hair stylist Ken Paves. Here's a guide to just a few of the hottest hairstyles that you can create with the use of clip in hair extensions.
Chunky Side Braid
In order to create a laid back side braid, all that you've got to do is invest in a top quality clip in hair piece. They're widely available from retailers like Clip Hair, so you shouldn't find purchasing one all that difficult. Go for an extension that is around 21 inches long and carefully attach it to the crown of your head. Make sure that the seam, or join, is hidden beneath your natural hairline - that way, nobody will be able to tell that your braid is a fake. Pull both your natural hair and the extension hair into a loose braid at one side of your head. This is an easy look to achieve, but be careful when it comes to untangling the braid, says Cosmopolitan journalist Carly Cardellino.
Long & Wavy
This is a great look for girls with naturally straight hair who want to experiment with a curlier style. You do have to buy curly or wavy extensions in order to achieve it - you can't buy a straight hairpiece and then style it using tongs. If you do this, you run the risk of melting your clip in piece. Fortunately, there are lots and lots of pre-styled extensions currently available on the market - Clip Hair has a large variety. Simply curl your natural hair with a curling iron. Next, brush it vigorously to create some volume and spray it with a quality hair spray. Last but not least, gently clip in your extension piece just below the crown of your head. Use your fingers to mix the synthetic curls with the natural ones.
Elegant Ponytail
Again, this is a style that's really easy to achieve. Your natural hair is doing most of the work with this one, so you don't have to worry about anybody noticing that you're wearing a clip in extension. Comb and style your natural hair into a high, tight ponytail. Carefully clip in a specially designed ponytail extension piece and you've finished the look. If you don't like the idea of having to buy a ponytail piece, it is possible to use a regular clip in extension, says About.com journalist Kendra Aarhus. This requires a bit more work, though.
Bouncing Bangs
This hairstyle is very popular with people who wear clip in extensions. It can be worn by people who don't wear extensions, but it doesn't have the same amount of bounce or vigour. All that you've got to do is blow dry your natural hair. Then, gently clip a 20 inch hair piece around the back of your head - make sure that it stretches from one ear to the other. Use a set of rollers to carefully style both the synthetic hair and your own hair into bouncy curls. In order to get the maximum effect, leave your curls to set for about 30 minutes and then untangle. You should be left with buoyant, bouncy curls that look super stylish and super feminine.
