New Maybelline Gel Eyeliner Review

The original Maybelline gel eyeliner had already been a hit and I personally loved it a lot too. Now, with this new Maybelline Gel Eyeliner formula, the product comes with a claim to last for 36 hours. I tried it a couple of times in past one week and here goes my experience with it below:

My experience with Maybelline Gel Eyeliner :

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner comes in a nice cute black bottle case and is accompanied by a brush similar to the one that came with the older version. I love the brush as it gives decent control on application. I can make it go thin on the inner part of my upper lashline and can easily make a smooth thick line on the outer part. The gel eyeliner has thick, jet black and smooth consistency that goes evenly in one stroke to give nice defined look to your eyes.

I've used it 3-4 times and have quite loved it so far. True to its claims the gel eyeliner once set, doesn't budge at all for a very long time. It is also water proof and water resistant, so you can easily wear it in the morning, wash your face any time of the day and don't have to bother about smudging at all. As far as its "36 hours long lasting" claim is concerned, I thought of putting it to test. I applied it on my eyes day before yesterday in the morning (at around 9 AM). I splashed water on my face around 2-3 times in whole day. The liner did stay intact without smudging for around 7-8 hours, after which it began fading slightly. The jet black color was all gone and I could only see dark matte greyish black.

However, the good thing was that my eyes were still presentable, though needed touch up and looked slightly smokier (in good way!). It stayed that way till 12:30 AM (after which I anyway removed it off my face using a cotton swab drenched in baby oil!). So all in all, I could say it stayed well put for at least 15 hours or so even after being washed off with 2-3 frequent splashes of water. I don't think anyone would need to wear it for more than this duration, unless you are going on long haul flights. 

The only issue I can think of about this gel eyeliner might be of how long it stays well in its container. With the previous version the issue faced with many people was that the gel eyeliner got dried pretty fast and developed cracks. One of the trick to prevent it from dryness and keep it intact was to keep it upside down. I also read somewhere that putting it in microwave for few seconds would do the trick (though I didn't try that!). For me, my old Maybelline gel eyeliner has worked fine since past one year and is about to finish now. I followed the routine of keeping it upside down (lid side down!), and hope this liner also stays well without drying up for a long time! :)


Overall, I am pretty impressed with Maybelline Gel Eyeliner  and would definitely recommend it. Have you used this new gel eyeliner from Maybelline India? If yes, then please share your opinion and experience with me in your comments below! :)
