Since the time I got loads of water proof, water resistant and long lasting makeup products, I've always been on a search of some decent cleanser that could easily remove all such makeup without making me struggle too much with my skin. Till date, all the cleansers I tried could work well in removing the normal makeup but failed with all long lasting and waterproof stuffs. The cleansing oils that I used could do the work to some extent, but again failed to remove the last traces of a water proof kajal, eyeliner or mascara and resulted in giving me panda eyes the next very morning. Moreover, since I have oily combination skin, many such oils gave me bad breakouts.
Cleanse daily morning and night using this two-step process:
Step 1: Massage 1 or 2 pumps gently onto dry skin over face and neck. Free from mineral oil, its rich and creamy texture swiftly removes all traces of face and eye make-up, including stubborn mascara.
Step 2: Rinse the pure muslin cloth in hand-hot water (water that is warm enough to easily dip your hands in) and wring out before gently polishing off the cream to gently remove dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.
Splash face with cool clean water and follow with Instant Boost Skin Tonic and your choice of moisturiser.
Because of this, I somehow avoid using waterproof makeup on daily basis. However, waterproof makeup has one advantage and it is that it sticks on your face whole day and has least chances to get spoilt by sweat or water in this sweltering heat. With that temptation of using waterproof makeup products, when I stumbled upon Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser, I felt a welcome change in my regular cleansing routine, which was much soothing, much effective and much refreshing. Needless to say, I love using this cleansing product and hence I love using my waterproof makeup too now!

Other ingredients
Aqua (water), Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Cetearyl alcohol, Cetyl esters, Sorbitan stearate, Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, Cera alba (beeswax), Propylene glycol, Humulus lupulus (hops) extract, Panthenol, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract, Anthemis nobilis (chamomile) extract, Eucalyptus globulus (eucalyptus) oil, Limonene, Citric acid, Sodium hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dehydroacetic acid, Polyaminopropyl biguanide.
- Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao): This rich, creamy butter which has moisturising effects on the skin is made from the roasted seeds of the cocoa tree, the same seeds that give us chocolate and cocoa.
- Hops Extract (Humulus lupulus): This herbal extract comes from the pinecone-like fruit of the hop plant and has astringent and toning properties.
- Rosemary Essential Oil/Extract (Rosmarinus officinalis): This renowned and once sacred herb has been used for centuries in beauty preparations. Rosemary essential oil has a fresh pungent aroma and is very invigorating and stimulating. The extract has beneficial antioxidant properties.
- Chamomile Essential Oil/Extract (Anthemis nobilis): This herb takes its name from the Greek kamai (ground) and melon (apple) because of the sweet apple-like fragrance it releases when trodden on. The essential oil is considered a gentle oil by aromatherapists and medical herbalists have used chamomile for soothing the skin for centuries.
- Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Eucalyptus globulus): Native to Australia, eucalyptus shoots are a favourite food of the koala. The cooling essential oil produced from the leaves and twigs has decongestant properties and is used by aromatherapists to ease muscular aches and pains.
- D-panthenol: Otherwise known as pro-vitamin B5, this B vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the skin and has a moisturising effect. It also helps stimulate cellular renewal.
- Glycerin: The glycerin we use is always vegetable derived. It is a humectant (attracts water), drawing atmospheric water onto the skin to aid hydration.
- Beeswax (Cera alba): The beeswax used in Naturally Active Skincare comes from the honeycombs in which bees store their pollen. It has skin protecting properties and helps to relieve chapped skin.

My experience with this product:
I was quite amazed at the technique when I read about it. The muslin cloth that comes in this product is made in India, and quite soft on face. After spending a whole hectic day outside, it feels like heaven when I apply the cream, rinse the cloth in hot water and wipe off my face with it. The cleanser and the cloth work well in removing all the impurities, makeup and even waterproof makeup to a great extent from my skin. The subtle hot steam from the cloth helps in relaxing my facial muscles and the overall formula feels quite nice to the skin. It has very mild fragrance which feels quite soothing to me.
Below are some images of the test:
After gently massaging the cream for sometime |

After wiping the cream off the hand. See just very minute traces of waterproof makeup left, that can easily be washed off |

Below are some pros and cons that I've felt about this product:
Pros:
1) A unique technique of cleanser cream and polish muslin cloth, that works well in removing impurities better and giving a soft relaxing massage to the skin.
2) The cream and the cloth are very gentle to the skin and remove makeup easily within 2-3 swipes. Also, the swipes don't feel harsh at all.
3) I love the fact that it removes waterproof makeup so readily to a great extent, thereby giving me a chance to use my waterproof makeup products again.
4) It never dried my skin. I've always felt it quite soothing and moisturizing on my skin. Every time I use the cleanser and the cloth, I feel suppleness and a glow on my face, which I believe comes from thorough cleansing, and little spa treatment.
5) It is made up of all natural and organic ingredients and since it is so effective, I feel it to be the best cleanser amongst all that I've used so far.
Cons:
1) Availability might be an issue. However, you can check the product online too.
2) Rinsing and washing the cloth after every use might be an overhead to super lazy people.
I can't find any other con from this.
Overall verdict: This is one of the best cleansing products I've used till date, and I definitely recommend it to all the beauties. It gives an overall mini-spa treatment to your face, right from cleansing and massaging to steaming(I like a bit hotter water) on everyday basis. I've been using it since past couple of weeks now and I absolutely love the experience every time I use it.
