Review: Orchid Blue Mineral Cosmetics Eyeshadows - Crystal Ice, Sand & Surf, Swiss Mocha - Swatches, EOTD
I received this sample eyeshadows a couple of days back and seeing how gorgeous they looked, I couldn't stop myself from trying them out. Since most of the eyeshadows I own till date give either matte or satin finish, I was more than happy to try all the shimmery and glittery eyeshadows from Orchid Blue Mineral Cosmetics.
Also, since the time I've started using mineral and loose powdered eyeshadows, I've fallen in love with them for the simple reason that they give me so much control over how I want my eyeshadows to look like and build them accordingly. Also, they are said to be good for skin. So, below goes my experience with three of the eyeshadows from Orchid blue mineral cosmetics: Crystal Ice, Sand &Surf and Swiss Mocha
1) Crystal Ice (040)
Crystal Ice (040) is an icy silver white eyeshadow packed with glitter! You can mix it with other shadows, or use alone. Its super glittery and shimmery so very little can work well in completing a look.
2) Sand & Surf (049)
Sand & Surf (049) is a gorgeous warm hazelnut eyeshadow with sparkling golden undertones. I love this eyeshadow and it looks really beautiful on my skin tone.
3) Swiss Mocha (027):
Swiss Mocha (027) is a beautiful Shimmering Mocha Brown shade. This is my favorite shade of all. Absolutely gorgeous and perfect to create a soft smoky look. It can easily be built with black eyeshadow to create a dramatic smoky eye look that can work perfectly with any dress for a night out!

Below is how they look on my eyes:
I've tried to create a soft look using these three eyeshadows. I've applied Sand & Surf on the center of my lids, Crystal ice on the inner corner and a little bit of Swiss mocha to the outer V of my lids. I've also used Swiss Mocha as a liner on my upper lid and lower lashline.

My experience with these eyeshadows:
I absolutely loved playing around with these eyeshadows and loved the fact that how amazingly pigmented these were. A little can work well in giving the desired effects. You can use soft strokes to get sheer effects if you want to do a look for normal day time. The shimmer and glitter looks really beautiful on application and stays for long, so you don't have to worry about blinking them off.
Below are some pros and cons that I've felt about these eyeshdaows:
Pros:
1) These are super pigmented eyeshadows that show up really well on application and look quite beautiful.
2) All the three eyeshadows that I got - Crystal Ice, Sand & Surf and Swiss Mocha have beautiful shimmer in them. Crystal ice is shimmery of all with glitters too and looks amazing when used for highlighting purpose. The shimmer particles in Sand & Surf and Swiss Mocha are very fine, don't look OTT on application and give a beautiful glamorous touch to the eye makeup and overall look.
3) The eye shadows have very fine texture and are easy to apply. They glide well on my lids with or without primer. However I usually apply a base matte eyeshadow or powder on my eyeshadows before putting any color. That also helps your eyeshadows to last longer by keeping your lids away from oil.
4) The staying power of the colors and shimmers in these eyeshadows is pretty good. With just Faces Metalliglow eyeshadow primer and loose powder as base, I've experienced a staying power of 3-4 hours. The shimmer also doesn't fall off much as it is very fine.
5) Price for the quantity and quality you get, makes them quite affordable.
Cons:
1) Since these are loose mineral eyeshadows with shimmer in them, you need to be extra careful while applying them. I didn't experience much fall outs from these eyeshadows, but the shimmer does fall a bit while applying, so make sure you apply lots of loose powder on highest points of your cheeks to get rid of the shimmer.
2) The eyeshadows have a tendency to crease after 3-4 hours, so you need to have a good base before you apply these eyeshadows. However, even 3-4 hours of crease-less stay is pretty good in my opinion.
Overall verdict: I liked these eyeshadows a lot right from their texture to pigmentation and soft shimmer. These can be easily built to create soft and dramatic looks depending on your need. I absolutely love the Swiss mocha for its gorgeous color and fine shimmer and have used it the most. The sample is already about to get over in next 1-2 applications..lol..
