Karl Lagerfeld presented the 'Paris - Byzance' Metiers D'Art collection in Paris in December 2010.
The theme was inspired by the Empress Theodora and the lost culture of Byzantium. It also relates directly to Coco Chanel's first collection of Byzantine-inspired costume jewellery, which was launched in the 1920s.
The famous portrait of Empress Theodora inspired both the collection of clothes and makeup products. The palette in red, black and copper shades creates simple looks for everyday makeup. Sumptuous gradients will be used for special occasions. Gold and bronze eyeshadows can be applied on the eyelids and cheekbones to catch the light. Each eyeshadow is dressed in a quilted effect and has the famous logo with the double "C". The texture, both creamy & powder, gives an optimal application.
