The time to relax is when you don't have time for it. ~ Jim Goodwin and Sydney J. Harris
How true is the above stated quote! With the hectic and busy
life style we all lead, it becomes even more crucial to take a break and let
our bodies take rest and be treated well. All we need is a bit of pampering,
and what could be better than getting a trip to a spa, once in a while that can
be a great treat to our minds and bodies.
Gone are the days when spa treatments were just meant to be
luxuries and only for rich people to avail. These days we have spa centers of
all varieties available at various places right from health club spas, medical
spas and beauty spas to cruise ship spas, mineral spring spas, and even dental
spas.
So, what exactly does a spa mean? Let us look into a brief
and interesting history about it, which I found online while browsing.
A spa is a Latin acronym of ‘Sanitas
Per Aqua’ which means “health through water” . Romans favored this phrase
and would carry it with them everywhere they used to go. So, when they went to a
town (now called Belgium), where they found the healing hot springs of water
bubbling out of the ground, they called the town – Spa.
Nowadays, spa has originated and evolved to much more than
just a hot Jacuzzi of water. We get all types of treatments related to beauty
and massage like scrubs, wraps, hydrotherapy, facials with mud, seaweeds and a
lot of natural and organic things, etc.
There are three basic categories of spas you can select
from, which are listed below:
1) Destination spas: These spas are the luxurious spas where
you can go for a super exotic experience. They are called destination spas
because they are dedicated to give you only the spa experience and nothing
else. People usually make a trip and vacation plan to these spas and stay there
for several days.
2) Resort spas: These have become more and more popular
these days. Guests who travel and stay in a resort can take the benefits of
this spa during their stay.
3) Day spas: These are like the fast food centers of spa
world. You can simply fix an appointment, hop in, get your treatments done and
continue with your everyday work. No need of days of planning or traveling long
distances to feel special.
It doesn’t matter if you want to be smeared with chocolate
for “feel good” factor, or want to loose a few pounds, or want to make your
skin feel extra-special; - there are good selections of spas to choose from,
right from the super-luxurious ones to down-home rustic. But, how to choose?
First, decide what is important to you, and what you want to
accomplish on your spa trip. This can usually be broken down into a few basic categories:
fitness, healing, spirituality, relaxation, beauty or some combination of
these.
Next, get the list of the spas that cater to your needs,
mark the ones you want to go to and talk to someone, who has been there before,
or get the details from reliable source. You can always check online reviews of
a spa and decide for the same. There are various blogs too available specifically
focusing on the location and specialized version of the spa treatments particular
to that part e.g. Indian spa treatments, Ayurvedic spa treatments, Herbal spa treatments, US specific spa
treatments, London spa treatments, etc.
You can also check various spas that give additional
benefits and Beauty gifts for women on any treatment. A spa treatment can be an excellent gift to your near and
dear one and you can present them a day of luxury through a Spa day voucher.
Sometimes it's
important to work for that pot of gold.
But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that
your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color
to slide down on the rainbow.
