Retro hair is certainly making a
comeback and no one does it better than Paloma Faith. Her sensational red locks
with the signature blonde streak through the front have seen hundreds of women
wanting to recreate her look.
The thing that makes Paloma Faith's look
so fresh is that, while it is undeniably retro, you are never quite sure which
era she is mirroring. She puts a modern twist on the cabaret style and brings
it right into the 21st century, so how do you go about recreating her quirky,
vibrant style?
Get
the colour
Paloma's tresses aren't naturally red,
so you need to get a good colourist
on your locks if you want to truly emulate her style. The blonde streak through the front adds depth and tone while bringing out the intensity in the copper of the rest of her hair. It takes a more than a smidgen of attitude to pull it off, but you can't help but feel confident with this head-turning hue.

Prepare
your hair
The next step to creating Paloma's look
is to prepare your hair by putting plenty of volume in at the roots. Do a
double blow dry by applying mousse throughout the length of your damp hair and
put plenty of volume in at the base with a large rounded brush. Once your hair
is dry you need to put more mousse on just the roots and dry it again. This
will make your hair extra voluminous and ready for curls.
Tong
the curls
After you have blow-dried your hair you
want to start putting in the barrel curls for which Paloma is famous. Spray
your hair with a good, protective hairspray, take your tongs and wrap your hair
around them in small sections. When you release the tongs you want to do it
slowly so the curl retains its shape. Once the curl is formed you need to pin
it securely out of the way with a bobby pin. This will ensure that each curl
keeps its shape while you continue to tong the rest of your hair. When all the
curls are done you need to apply another liberal dose of hairspray to help them
maintain shape.
Release
your goddess
When your hair is completely cool you
can take out the pins and use a soft bristle brush to tease it into elegant
barrel curls. There's no denying it, this look is high maintenance. You might
want to start getting your beauty products wholesale
if you want to wear this look every day! It is well worth all the time and
effort, though. Gently teasing out those curls will give you plenty of volume
to create pin-up girl tresses. You can add a finishing spray to add extra shine
and hold it all in place.
Finishing
touches
Once the groundwork is done, all you
need to do to get that vintage look is to pin back your fringe into the super
sexy, signature quiff. Add some liquid eyeliner, bright red lipstick, plenty of
attitude and you are ready to go. Paloma's look might require a bit of effort,
but you don't get to be a glamour goddess with a 10 minute blow-dry. It takes a
bit of dedication to pull the look together, but you are guaranteed to turn
heads wherever you go.
