The Healthy Hair Checklist
Your hair is important and needs proper care. If you are wondering why your hair looks dull or why it looks unhealthy, maybe it’s time you started taking good care of your hair. Here are some healthy hair tips you can use to get that luster back into your hair.

The first thing you should do is have your hair styled right. The right haircut will make any hair texture or type look good. Go to a good salon and have your hairstylist cut and style your hair. That’s the first thing you need to do before you start using other hair products. Get your hair cut right!
Proper Cleansing
Once you have got the style that suits you best, it’s up to you to have it cleaned regularly. You will need to shampoo and condition your hair regularly to have healthy hair. Check with your hairstylist which hair shampoo and conditioner is good for your hair style. Using the wrong shampoo and conditioner can have adverse effects on your hair.
Hair Care
Caring for your hair is probably the most important thing you can do to ensure that your hair stays beautiful all the time. It is advisable to work with the natural look of your hair and not against it. Hair dryers, curling irons, straighteners and chemicals from dyes can damage your hair.
Scalp Massage
If you want to see your hair healthy, take care of it. Use some scalp massage oil and gently massage your scalp. Massage oils that have essential oils like Thyme, Lavender, Rosemary and Cedar wood are known to help your scalp and hair. You can mix 2 tablespoons of carrier oil like Jojoba, Almond, Grape Seed or Sesame oil along with a few drops of essential oil and massage your scalp gently.

Brush and Comb
Using the right brush and comb for your hair will keep your hair healthy. Do not use combs with sharp or jagged edges as they will damage your hair. Use a wide tooth comb that has smooth, rounded teeth. If you use a brush, use one that is made from boar or natural bristles. These will help distribute the sebum evenly from the scalp to the hair ends.
Humidifiers
If you are living in an area where the climate is dry or if you have static electricity in winter, use a humidifier to add moisture to the air in your home. If you don’t have a humidifier, simmer a pot of water on the stove to allow the moisture to get into the air. This will keep your hair in good condition.
When you Sleep
Instead of using a flannel or cotton pillow case, use a satin pillow case when you sleep at night. This will reduce the friction and help keep your hair healthy.
Silk Scarves
Using silk scarves will help keep your hair smoother and will also give you an extra stylish look.
Trimming
You will need to go to your hairstylist for regular hair trims. As your hair grows the wear and tear at the hair ends will tend to go upwards and it should be trimmed. On average, your hair grows about ½ an inch every 4 - 6 weeks and that is the amount of hair that should be trimmed every 4 - 6 weeks.
Food
Having a well-balanced diet will help your hair stay healthy and strong. You need vitamins, minerals and nutrients, and you can get this from fresh vegetable and fruits. Protein from fish, meat and poultry are also very important as it allows your hair to grow strong and healthy.
Having sufficient Omega-3 fats in your diet (from fish, nuts and flaxseed oil) will help your hair to have a natural shine and not to look dry or dull.
You can make use of this checklist to ensure that your hair stays healthy, strong and beautiful.
