How to Prepare for a Big Night Out
Have you got that dreaded 6 o’clock finish on a Friday night followed by a big night out? Stressing about how to beautify yourself in time? What to wear? How to look your best? Here are a few quick and easy tips to follow!
Prep your skin
Looking after your skins should always be a priority, but in the few days leading up to a big night, you should be extra kind to it. Make up wipes have turned into a girls’ best friend, but a lot of us are replacing facial wash with them. Make up wipes are great for removing make up but it is really important to wash your face after using them. The substance of the wipes can clog up pores, and if you are removing a lot of makeup, the reality is you will be rubbing some of it over and over your face, rather than removing it. Using a hydrating facial mask the night before will leave your skin feeling fresh and clean, and a hydrated face is much easier to apply make up to. Having a good skin routine will also mean less to cover up, so it’s win-win!
If you are going straight from work to this night out, another point to mention is the makeup you wear during that day. A lot of girls will put lots of makeup on to save time later. But the likelihood is that it won’t look great by the end of the day, and it is much more difficult to apply nice make-up to an already made up face. No one wants spider leg mascara and blotchy bronzer! So the best advice is to lay off the makeup during the day.
Get to know your hair
It is really important to understand your hair. How do you like it? When is it at its best? A lot of girls will wash their hair on the day of their big night out, but will then complain about it being “frizzy” or “poofy”. If you start taking a mental note of when it is that you’re happiest with your hair, then you will know when to wash it. A lot of people actually realize that their hair is at its most manageable on the second day after the wash.
Secondly, if you are going to be in the office all day, you run the risk of leaving with flat, messy or disheveled hair. If you twist your hair into a neat, loose bun or plait, when you let it down that evening it will be full of volume and will still have a nice shape to it. Chose your outfit
It is so difficult to choose an outfit when you know you have to stick to it. Usually, we have hours to try different things on in front of the mirror before throwing them on the floor in a tantrum screaming “WHY do I have nothing to wear?!”. Before discovering something that will “have to do”. Make sure you have a number of “go to” outfits. Outfits that you know you are comfortable in and that have received compliments before.
These are always the best ones to pick when you have to decide what you will be wearing further in advance. If you haven’t got any fail safe outfits in your wardrobe ( a LBD for example), it is worth investing. Pick something classic, which you can change up with different accessories. Of course, none of this is a problem if you have bought a new outfit specially!
Paint your nails
The colour depends on the outfit, but it is definitely a good idea to paint your nails the night before if you are going to be pressed for time. Once you know the colour, you can apply a clear base coat, two coats of colour and then a clear top coat. This will discourage chipping of the varnish and should leek you with perfect talons!
